Event Details

Just a few hours away from celebrating a milestone, will you share the moment with us!

When doors open at 9:00 PM on October 10, 2009 at Antun's in Queens Village, NY, we will begin celebrating a 34-year milestone: our 34 years of services to the Greater Cambria Heights Community.

And you will be in for a treat. If you have  not  yet bought your ticket, there's still time to do so on the internet. Our system will remain open until 6:00 PM on October 10. Once you purchase your tickets you will also be able to print them and take them with you as proof of purchase. Of course we will have confirmed the purchase beforehand, but just to be sure, print the tickets and bring them with you.

Special Performance by Michele Voltaire Marcelin

This year, our guests will be treated to a special spoken-word poetry performance by Michele Voltaire Marcelin. A writer, poet, actress and painter, Ms Marcelin will be delighting the audience with poems lifted from her two most recent books of poetry and prose: "Lost and Found," and "Amours et Bagatelles." Don't expect to sit through a reading. Be prepared instead to be transported into a world where poetry takes forms that excite the senses and make one truly appreciate the power of words well spoken.

Of her poetry in "Lost and Found," famed Haitian-American writer Edwidge Danticat says "[they] are as sensual as they are lyrical, as tender as they are incandescent. Make sure you are sitting down, or better yet lying down, with your beloved and a glass of wine, as you read them. Your heart -- and your love life -- will never be the same."

Before the performance, we will hear from key elected officials in NY City and State who will be reflecting on the importance of Haitians to the Empire State. After the performance you will be able to dance the night away in the arms of your loved one. All of this coiffed by a delightful buffet dinner and drinks.

Your sponsorship of the event will help us reach another milestone!

We are very close to turning a long held dream into a reality! Just $150,000 needed to begin breaking ground on new building facilities that will significantly improve our ability to deliver quality services to the immigrants, the poor, the youth and the elderly who seek us out because we are here to assist them in their time of need. Can we do it? Yes, we can with your help. Today, more than ever it is essential that we show the community and the world for that matter  that we are builders of the American dream, and that part of that dream lies in the new edifice that will rise on Linden Boulevard at this time next year!

You're the key to closing the deal!

We are not asking you for much. We invite you to join us for a good meal and dance the night away as a dreamweaver, a pioneer, a goalkeeper or a teammate. Be among those whose name will be forever associated with the new building; it will surely become a featured landmark on Linden Boulevard, in Cambria Heights, NY. What an achievement for a Haitian-American organization! If you absolutely cannot make it to the event, please consider making a donation that speaks well of your commitment to community.

Act now and set your own milestone!

We have made it very easy for you to reserve your seat now so that we can greet you in the style that you deserve. You can do so with a credit or debit card. Come join in the fun and in building community.
